6 Solar Power
in Petrie Terrace.

Solar power installation in South East Queensland is one of the highest-growth home upgrade categories in 2025-26, driven by rising energy costs and the QLD Battery Booster Rebate. A typical SE QLD home installs a 6.6kW system for $4,500-8,000 (after STC rebates), with payback periods of 4-7 years and 25-year panel warranties standard. Adding a battery doubles the cost but unlocks self-consumption and feed-in tariff arbitrage.

The QLD-specific landscape: the state has the highest solar uptake per capita in Australia, but also some of the lowest feed-in tariffs (5-8c/kWh in 2026), which makes battery storage more attractive than in southern states. Reputable installers are CEC-accredited (Clean Energy Council); always check this before signing.

What to ask before hiring a solar installer

• CEC accreditation. Mandatory for STC rebate eligibility. Check the installer''s accreditation number at cleanenergycouncil.org.au.
• Panel and inverter brands. Tier 1 panel brands (LG, Trina, Q CELLS, REC, Jinko) and reputable inverters (Fronius, SMA, Sungrow, Enphase, Goodwe) come with longer warranties and stronger residual value. Avoid no-name imports.
• Roof access and mounting. Tile roofs cost more to mount than metal. Two-story homes attract scaffolding fees ($300-800).
• Battery sizing. A 10kWh battery suits most 4-person SE QLD households; a 13.5kWh Powerwall covers heavier night use.
• Workmanship warranty. 10-year minimum on workmanship is standard. Anything shorter is a red flag.
• STC rebate handling. The installer should handle the STC paperwork and discount it from your bill upfront. Watch out for quotes that don''t pre-deduct.
