5 Roofers
in Petrie Terrace.

Roofing in South East Queensland deals with two main systems: Colorbond / Zincalume metal sheet (most modern homes) and concrete or terracotta tile (most pre-1990 homes). The SE QLD climate, heavy summer rain, occasional cyclonic gusts, intense UV, puts roofs under stress, and most homes need either a re-paint, re-bedding, or full replacement at some point in a 25-year cycle. Reputable roofers carry QBCC (Queensland Building and Construction Commission) licences mandatory for any work over $3,300.

Costs vary enormously based on roof type, pitch, access, and whether you''re repairing, restoring, or replacing. A simple gutter clean might be $200-500; a full Colorbond re-roof can be $15,000-40,000+ depending on house size.

What to ask before hiring a roofer

• QBCC licence. Mandatory in QLD for work over $3,300. Check the licence number at qbcc.qld.gov.au, also confirms what classes of work they''re licensed for.
• Insurance. $10M public liability minimum, plus workers compensation. Roofing is high-fall-risk work.
• Written quote with scope. Should specify materials, labour, edge details (capping, flashing), gutter and downpipe work, and disposal of old materials.
• Warranty. 7-10 year workmanship warranty is standard on new Colorbond installs. Tile work warranties vary by manufacturer; ask.
• References / recent jobs. Ask for 2-3 recent SE QLD jobs you can drive past or get owner-feedback on.
• Wet weather plan. SE QLD afternoon storms are brutal during summer. A good roofer has tarp/protection plans if work spans multiple days.
