For tradies in SE QLD

Get your trade
found on Google.

Being listed on HelpSorted puts you in front of locals searching the directory. But most of your next customers start on Google. Heres how tradies actually get found there.

Four steps that move the needle

01

Claim your Google Business Profile.

For a local trade, this is the single biggest move. Your Business Profile is what appears when someone searches your name or your trade category in their area. Claim it at business.google.com, fill in your service area (the suburbs you actually cover, not just your home address), upload real photos of your work, and set your hours. An incomplete profile ranks lower and converts worse.

Most trades skip the service area section. Fill it in. It directly affects which suburb searches you appear in.

02

Get reviews, then reply to every one.

Google treats review count and recency as a ranking signal. Customers do too. Ask every satisfied customer to leave a Google review while the job is fresh: a quick text with a direct link goes a long way. Then reply to each review, positive and negative. A replied review signals an active business. An ignored negative review signals the opposite.

Tip: set a reminder to ask for a review at invoice time. That’s when the job is freshest in both your minds.

03

Make sure your site works on a phone and loads fast.

Most people searching for a tradie are on their phone. If your site takes more than three seconds to load, or the text is too small to read without zooming, you lose the job before they call. Google also uses mobile performance as a ranking signal. Run your site through Google PageSpeed Insights (it’s free) to see where you stand. A slow site loses to a faster competitor even if your reviews are better.

A site does not need to be expensive to be fast. A simple page with your name, suburb, service, and a call button often outperforms a heavy five-page site.

04

Target what customers actually type.

Customers search with suburb names and urgency words: "emergency plumber Gympie", "bond clean Burleigh Heads", "sparkie available weekends Redcliffe". If your site only mentions your business name and a generic service description, you miss those searches. Work the actual phrase your customer types into your page title, your H1, and your Google Business Profile description.

Check what people type by searching your own service in Google and reading the autocomplete suggestions. Those are real queries from real customers in your area.
